Opening Ceremony for the 63rd Seven Universities Meet held
On July 6, 2024, the opening ceremony for the 63rd Seven Universities Meet was held at Nagoya University. From OU, President NISHIO Shojiro, Executive Vice President TANAKA Toshihiro, and Osaka University Sports Union Chairman KUROSE Takanori attended it to pray for a successful performance of athletes.
After returning the championship banner and trophy from the University of Tokyo, last year’s champion, the Nagoya University Boys Cheerleading Team and other groups put on performances.
At the reception following the opening ceremony, the president and students from each university spoke about their enthusiasm for the meet. They wished each other all the best and success in the event and humorously assured that they would show exciting games like the ones you would see in the Paris Olympics.
Although the portion of the competitions held in the winter was over, 33 remaining events will be held from now on.
Recently, OU placed first in the men’s basketball and currently, in the total point standings, it is in 4th place behind Tohoku University, the University of Tokyo, and Hokkaido University, a favorite to win the meet.
We ask you to cheer on OU’s athletes as they vie for the university’s first championship in 13 years.
