MIYAHARA Hideo, former president of Osaka University, has passed away

We regret to announce that the 15th President of Osaka University, MIYAHARA Hideo, passed away on July 12th, 2024.

President Miyahara graduated from Osaka University’s School of Engineering in March 1967 and received his doctorate in engineering from Osaka University in January 1973.
After assuming the role of Professor of OU’s Computation Center in January 1987 and Professor of the School of Engineering Science in October 1989, he served as Director of the Computation Center, Dean of the Graduate School of Engineering Science, Director of the International Student Center, and Dean of the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology.
From August 2003 through August 2007, he served as President of Osaka University, greatly contributing to the development of the university.

We would like to express our deepest appreciation for the contribution he made and offer our sincerest condolences to his family.
