IMAEDA Soichiro, State Minister of MEXT, visits Suita Campus
On Monday, June 24, 2024, officials from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), including State Minister IMAEDA Soichiro, Mr. SAKODA Kenkichi (Director, Industrial Cooperation Promotion Office, Industrial Cooperation and Regional Development Division, Science and Technology Policy Bureau), and Mr. TAWARA Kohji (Chief, Medical Education Division, Higher Education Bureau), visited the Suita Campus to inspect Osaka University Hospital and the Graduate School of Medicine, as well as the Techno-Alliance Building and the Institute of Laser Engineering, hubs for industry-university-government collaboration.
They first visited the Administration Bureau to talk with President NISHIO Shojiro, Executive Vice President KANEDA Yasufumi, Executive Vice President TANAKA Toshihiro, and Executive Vice President INOUE Keiji about the future vision of the university as well as its efforts in human resource development.

Then, they visited Osaka University Hospital and the Graduate School of Medicine to learn about their efforts to promote working style reform for doctors. After listening from Hospital Director NONOMURA Norio and Dean KUMANOGOH Atsushi, the group had a lively discussion.

During a meeting over lunch, relevant stakeholders in MEXT, OU startups, industry, finance, and universities gathered together to actively discuss collaboration and support for startups, the key to economic revitalization.

Subsequently, the group visited the Techno-Alliance Building and received explanation from the representatives of 5 startups at OU: EX-Fusion Inc., Revascular Bio Co.,Ltd., Luxna Biotech Co., Ltd., Microwave Chemical Co., and StemRim Inc. about their activities. The group exchanged opinions on challenges and prospects for these startups, ending the session with a word of encouragement.

Lastly, the group inspected large-scale lasers: Gekko XII and LFEX in the E-building of the Institute of Laser Engineering.
