Ceremony held to celebrate the completion of renovations
A ceremony to celebrate the completion of large-scale renovations to the athletic field and tennis courts on Suita Campus, which were aimed at improving facilities for extracurricular activities, was held on Thursday, May 16, 2024.
The 400-meter, six-lane track and the long jump pit and pole vault pit in the throwing area received a new all-weather rubber surface. At the tennis courts, the worn artificial grass surface was resurfaced and new light fittings were installed.

Many faculty members and students were present at the ceremony, including President NISHIO Shojiro, Executive Vice President for Student Support TANAKA Toshihiro, Student Life Committee Chair MORII Eiichi, and members of the track and field team and undergraduate tennis team.
The ceremony starting with greetings from President Nishio and student representatives from the track and field team and tennis team and were followed by a performance wishing for future athletic success by the cheerleading team, a ribbon cutting ceremony, a commemorative run by members of the track and field team, and finally, a lighting of the tennis courts.

The renovations have made the athletic field more resistant to weather conditions, allowing athletes to practice in training settings that closely resemble actual competitions and the new tennis court lighting has enabled athletes to practice even after sundown.
The newly-renovated athletic field and tennis courts will bring further success to Osaka University’s student athletes.
