Welcome to Osaka University! 2024-25 Spring Entrance Ceremony held
Osaka University held its 2024-2025 Spring Entrance Ceremony under clear blue skies at Osaka-jo Hall on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, with 6,361 individuals (3,374 undergraduate students and 2,987 graduate students) entering the university.
Just like last year, those who could not attend in-person were able to view a live stream of the ceremony.
At the ceremony, which began at 1:30 pm in a solemn atmosphere, two student representatives, MORIOKA Ryota (School of Engineering Science) and KIOI Yoshiyuki (Graduate School of Medicine), made oaths of admission.
In his speech, President Nishio mentioned Osaka University’s roots, which reach back to Kaitokudo, Tekijuku, and Osaka School of Foreign Languages, schools for the people, by the people.
After emphasizing the importance of caring for the well-being of others to solve social challenges and create a harmonious society, he congratulated the students, expressing his hope that they would cherish interpersonal relationships, behave with social awareness and understanding of the world around them, and have various experiences during their valuable school years.
Finally, musical performances welcoming the new students were displayed by Osaka University's Symphony Orchestra, Mixed Chorus, and Male Chorus. The Cheerleading Party also performed a dance in their brand-new uniforms that reflect the social trend respecting diversity, as an alternative to their traditional Japanese school uniforms for boys, concluding the ceremony on a festive note.
