Dr. Wani celebrates the opening of the new train stations in Minoh!
On March 23, 2024, the Minoh New Station Opening Festival to celebrate the extension of the Kita-Osaka Kyuko Line and the opening of new stations, Minoh-kayano Station and Minoh-semba handai-mae Station, was held with an attendance of Osaka University Mascot Dr. Wani.
Despite the inclement weather, Dr. Wani was on parade around Minoh Q’s Mall and the Minoh Campus with other popular characters, such as Takinomichi Yuzuru (the mascot of Minoh City), and Myaku-Myaku (Osaka Expo mascot), interacting with local residents and celebrating the new railway extension.
Minoh-semba handai mae Station directly connects to Osaka University’s Minoh Campus. People can now come to the Minoh Campus from downtown areas like Shin Osaka, Umeda, and Namba without the need to change trains, making access much easier.
To realize an Osaka University Global Campus, Osaka University’s Minoh Campus, as an “Innovation Commons” open to the public, will promote a variety of co-creative activity in cooperation with local governmental agencies and citizen groups.
