Title of Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow awarded to Dr. Irfan Dwidya Prijambada

On Friday, January 19, 2024, the title awarding ceremony for the Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow took place at the university, where Dr. Irfan Dwidya Prijambada of Universitas Gadjah Mada (Indonesia) received the title from Executive Vice President TANAKA Manabu in charge of Global Engagement.

The title of Global Alumni Fellow is conferred to OU alumni who are active overseas in order to build an international network.

A graduate of the doctoral program at Osaka University’s Graduate School of Engineering, Dr. Irfan went on to promote joint research in applied microbiology through exchange with the International Center for Biotechnology (ICBiotech).

Since 2015, as an Overseas Visiting Professor at the ICBiotech, he has worked for various endeavors, such as dispatching students in the Sakura Science Program and conducting classes in the English course.

At the ceremony, Executive Vice President Tanaka explained the significance of the title and asked for Dr. Irfan’s continued support in serving as a bridge for education and research between Japan and Indonesia and enhancing the network of OU alumni who are active in Indonesia.

The ceremony was held in the presence of ICBiotech Director FUJIYAMA Kazuhito (a contact person for the ceremony), Professor HONDA Kohsuke (ICBiotech), Vice Dean OMASA Takeshi (Graduate School of Engineering), Professor FUKUZAKI Eiichiro (Graduate School of Engineering), and Regional Director FUJITA Kiyoshi (ASEAN Center for Academic Initiatives).

Dr. Irfan had a lively discussion with the attendees about a variety of topics, including his student life and his research at OU and student exchange.
