8th Osaka University Toyonaka Regional Meeting held

On Friday, December 8, 2023, the 8th Osaka University Toyonaka Regional Meeting was held in the International Building of Osaka University’s Graduate School of Engineering Science. 152 faculty, staff, students, business persons, and citizens participated in the event, deepening exchange through poster presentations and information exchange sessions.

To learn more about research at other schools and deepen their relationships, researchers at the schools of social sciences, natural sciences and the humanities on the Osaka University’s Toyonaka Campus has held an annual meeting since AY2016 under the theme of “Contributing to art-science integration, collaboration between fields, and industry-university co-creation.”

The meeting began with the opening remarks from President NISHIO Shojiro. At the poster session that followed, 43 groups from 16 graduate schools and research centers on the Toyonaka Campus, as well as the Toyonaka City Industrial Promotion Division, had poster presentations and lively discussions.

In the subsequent information exchange session, participants deepened exchange across schools and fields of expertise in a more relaxed atmosphere.

This event received favorable comments from over 90% of participants:

"This was a good approach to see all kinds of research conducted on the Toyonaka Campus all in one place. I asked many questions about a research topic that I was interested in. Researchers answered my questions using simple and easy to understand language."

"Since all presenters explained their research in a way that was easily understood, I saw how fun research actually was."

Moving forward, Osaka University will continue this long-term effort of expressing the appeal of the Toyonaka Campus.
