Presidential Awards for Excellence in Extracurricular Activities

The award ceremony for the 24th Presidential Awards for Excellence in Extracurricular Activities was held on Friday, July 28, 2023.

Presidential Awards for Excellence in Extracurricular Activities were established to recognize outstanding extracurricular activities and invigorate and improve student extracurricular activity participation in 2000.

From 17 nominations, including 5 from sports-oriented clubs, 4 from culture-oriented clubs, and 8 from other groups and individuals, the following individuals received the 24th Presidential Awards for Excellence in Extracurricular Activities.

Outstanding Achievement Award

Rowing Club
The club won the Men's Coxed Four at the 63rd Japan Rookie Competition.

Sports Chanbara
The club was the Grand Champion of the Men's Division of the 29th Sports Chanbara All Japan Collegiate Championship.

E.S.S. Parliamentary Debate Section
The team advanced to the Grand Finals of the Northeast Asian Debating Championship.

Special Recognition Award

Karate Club
The club earned a Top 8 finish in the Female Team Kumite at the 63rd Kansai University Karate Championship.

Environmental GECS (Gaidai Eco Challengers）
The club organized cleanup activity involving kids at the Minoh River and were interviewed for the Mainichi Broadcasting System television show "Goe ga yuku! Liyon-chan SDGs News."

Mr. MICHISAKA Reo (March 2023 graduate of the School of Engineering Science)
Mr. Michisaka won 1st place in the All Japan Ski Orienteering Hokkaido Championship (sprint, pursuit).

Mr. TSUDA Michitaka (March 2023 graduate of the School of Foreign Studies)
Mr. Tsuda served as a delegate from Japan at the global forum for young leaders "One Young World 2022" under the sponsorship of the Asahi Group Holdings Ltd.

*Unfortunately, Mr. Michisaka was unable to attend the award ceremony.
