OU receives JANUL Award for its regional cooperation in library management

On Thursday, June 22, the Osaka University’s International Studies Library received the 2023 JANUL (Japan Association of National University Libraries) Award at its 70th General Meeting.

Under the public-private partnership, OU is responsible for the management of an integrated library opened in May 2021, namely the Minoh City Semba Library and OU’s International Studies Library. OU is the first national university corporation that is commissioned by the municipal government to manage the integrated library.

Since its opening, the International Studies Library has served as a place of co-creation between the university and the region through events to contribute to the region by utilizing its resource in cooperation with the School of Foreign Studies and other organizations.

Their efforts to improve and provide a place for creating new knowledge open to the region and society were thought to agree with one of the goals for JANUL’s Vision 2025, allowing the International Studies Library staff to earn the award.

Moving forward, the staff will continue regional contribution activities by making use of resources of the university and the libraries.
