Microwave Chemical Co., Ltd., an OU startup, receives University-Oriented Startup Award (MEXT Minister’s Award) at the Nippon Startup Awards 2023
Microwave Chemical Co., Ltd. (MWCC), a startup launched by Osaka University, received the University-Oriented Startup Award (MEXT Minister’s Award) at the Nippon Startup Awards 2023. The Nippon Startup Awards honor startups that have created impactful new businesses that will serve as role models for the next generation.
Launched by Osaka University in 2007 under the vision of “Make Wave, Make World: Create a World We Have Never Seen,” MWCC engages in manufacturing innovations in chemical manufacturing and other industries.
MWCC established the world’s first large-scale manufacturing plant for chemical products that utilizes microwaves, developing revolutionary manufacturing processes and new materials and achieving carbon neutrality through electrification in a wide range of fields.
MWCC has operated the “Microwave Chemical Joint Research Chair,” which was established at Osaka University’s Graduate School of Engineering in 2006, to promote collaboration between research and educational activity at the university since 2010.
Osaka University will focus more energy on creating and developing university startups together with Osaka University Venture Capital (OUVC) in order to promote social applications of research outcomes at the university.
