Conferment Ceremony held for Medal of Honor with Dark Blue Ribbon

Ms. OGIWARA Hiroko received a Medal of Honor with a Dark Blue Ribbon* from the Japanese government for her generous financial contributions to Osaka University.

The conferment ceremony was held at Osaka University on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, with President NISHIO Shojiro, Executive Vice President KANEDA Yasufumi, Dean OBIKA Satoshi of the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Specially Appointed Professor DOI Takefumi (former Dean, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences) in attendance. President Nishio conferred the medal to Ms. Ogiwara, expressing his gratitude for her contribution.

Ms. Ogiwara’s donations were utilized in the construction of Building 4 of the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences as part of the specific fund to support “Osaka University's 90th and Osaka University of Foreign Studies' 100th Anniversary Project.”

After the ceremony, a social gathering was held in a pleasant atmosphere. To the President expressing his appreciation, Ms. Ogiwara spoke about her intention and what drove her to donate.

The Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon is awarded to individuals who have made exceptionally generous financial contributions for the good of the public. It is conferred when the occasion arises, after the Decoration Bureau of the Cabinet Office has screened the candidates recommended by relevant ministries.
