OU moves up to 3rd in Japan in THE Impact Rankings 2023
Osaka University has tied for 3rd among Japanese universities (101~200th globally) in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings announced on June 1, 2023, moving from 8th place last year to 3rd.
THE Impact Rankings measure performance of global universities in the United Nations' (UN) 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as climate action, gender equality, and good health and well-being and assess their commitment to sustainability across four broad areas: research, stewardship, outreach and teaching.
OU’s top 100 performances include SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions).
In addition, Osaka University moved up to 4th (251~300th globally) in THE's World University Rankings 2023 and retained its third place in THE's Japan University Rankings 2023, which assess university performance with a greater focus on education.
These rankings reflect that efforts by the university in education, research, and co-creation with society have steadily come to fruition.
