President NISHIO Shojiro joins talk session for International Women’s Day (March 8)

On March 8, International Women’s Day, a press conference for the "Women’s Pavilion in Collaboration with Cartier,” the "Women’s Pavilion" at Expo 2025 to be held with the committee of the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition, was held at the International House of Japan in Tokyo.

At the talk session facilitated by HABU Sachiko (author, media producer, and CEO of Habu Production Co., Ltd.), representatives from different walks of life talked about the importance of an inclusive society and dreaming forward to the future gender equality on the International Women’s Day.

The representatives included NAGAYAMA Yuko (architect), HIRANO Nobuyuki (former CEO of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group) and June Miyachi (President and CEO of Cartier Japan). President Nishio joined the discussion as a representative from education.

President Nishio spoke about the situation of and challenges experienced by women working in the field of education and introduced efforts at the university in the development of the next generation, promoting active roles of female researchers, and industry-university co-creative education (recurrent education). He also advocated the further promotion of women’s active roles in the field of education moving forward.

Finally, the participants expressed their determination to achieve gender equality, ending the talk session on a positive note.
