Title of Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow awarded to Professor Young Ho Jeon in virtual award ceremony

On Thursday, March 2, the ceremony to award the title of Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow to Professor Young Ho Jeon of Korea University was held online.

The title of Global Alumni Fellow is conferred to OU alumni who are active overseas in order to build an international network.

After graduation from Graduate School of Science, Professor Jeon performed life science research using nuclear magnetic resonance equipment at the Institute for Protein Research. He currently performs research in structural biology at Korea University.

At the ceremony, after explaining the significance of the title awarding and commemorative gifts, Executive Vice President Kawahara expressed his hope that Professor Jeon would serve as a bridge between Korea University and Osaka University, both Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) members, so that they can continue their collaboration in education and research.

Present at the ceremony were Professor FUJIWARA Toshimichi (Professor Jeon’s contact person) and Professor NAKAGAWA Atsushi of the institute for Protein Research, who congratulated Professor Jeon and requested his continued collaboration with the Institute in his research field of biotechnology and beyond. They also expressed their hopes to reunite him at symposiums to be held in Korea and Japan.
