Title of Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow awarded to Professor Hyun-Chul Kim and Dr. TAKASHIMA Yoshihiro
Osaka University confers the title Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow on alumni who are active overseas as part of its strategy to build a global network. Recently the university conferred the title to the following two alumni.
Professor Hyun-Chul Kim receives title of Global Alumni Fellow
The certificate of the title of Global Alumni Fellow was conferred to Professor Hyun-Chul Kim of Inha University (Korea) from Executive Vice President KAWAHARA Genta in charge of Global Engagement at the title award ceremony on Thursday, December 15, 2022.
Professor Kim, who acted as a mentor for students at the Research Center for Nuclear Physics at Osaka University as a specially-appointed professor, is currently active in physics research at Inha University and has published books on nuclear physics and other related fields.
The ceremony was held in the presence of NAKANO Takashi, director of the Research Center for Nuclear Physics, and Professor HOSAKA Atsushi of the center, a contact person for the ceremony.
After receiving the certificate of the title and a commemorative gift from Executive Vice President Kawahara, Dr. Kim and the attendees of the ceremony talked about various topics, such as exchange with other universities, student exchange, as well as the idea of delivering lectures by Dr. Kim to high school students who have interactions with the center.

Dr. TAKASHIMA Yoshihiro receives title of Global Alumni Fellow
On Thursday, December 22, 2022, the title award ceremony for Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow was held, where Dr. TAKASHIMA Yoshihiro (Coordinator for Vaccine-Preventable Diseases and Immunization, WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific, Philippines) received the certificate of the title from Executive Vice President KAWAHARA Genta in charge of Global Engagement.
After working at medical institutions in Japan, Dr. Takashima, a graduate from the Faculty of Medicine of Osaka University, has worked at the WHO Regional Office for the Western Pacific for over 20 years.
At the ceremony, Dr. Takahahi talked about cooperation and challenges in infectious disease prevention with the attendees, including Executive Vice President KAWAHARA Genta, Executive Vice President KANEDA Yasuhiro (a contact person for the ceremony), Center Director MATSUURA Yoshiharu, Management Director KIKUCHI Akira, and Administrative Director MASUDA Toshihiro.
After that, Executive Vice President KANEDA conferred the certificate of the title and a commemorative gift to Dr. Takashima, asking his cooperation in strengthening international collaboration at the university, while Dr. Takashima expressed his expectation for the university’s activity and collaboration in the future.
