OU signs agreement with Springer Nature to accelerate open access (OA) publishing
Osaka University is working to promote open access (OA) in order to share its research results and intellectual resources with the world.
Recently, library directors of 10 universities*, most of which are member universities of the Research University Consortium (RUC), signed agreement with Springer Nature, a German-British academic publishing company, to proceed with a pilot project to promote open access (OA) publishing.
*10 universities: Tohoku University, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Yokohama National University, University of Fukui, Osaka University, Kobe University, Okayama University, Waseda University, and Tokyo University of Science
This project is an important step to make research findings in Japan freely available to the world. OA publishing will not only improve international assessment of these universities but also develop open science by allowing anyone in the world to access their OA theses.
