Conferment Ceremony held for Medal of Honor with Dark Blue Ribbon
Ms. TARUMOTO Hiroko, Mr. TARUMOTO Fumio, and Mr. FUJIMOTO Takeo received Medals of Honor with Dark Blue Ribbons* for their generous financial contributions to Osaka University for its advancement.
The conferment ceremony for these recipients was held at Osaka University on Friday, October 14, 2022. From the university, President NISHIO Shojiro, Executive Vice President KANEDA Yasufumi, Osaka University Hospital Director TAKEHARA Tetsuo, Dean KUWABATA Susumu of the Graduate School of Engineering attended.
President Nishio handed the medals to the three recipients, expressing his gratitude to them for their contributions.
The funds contributed by these individuals were put to use in supporting medical settings and student activities during the COVID-19 pandemic via the following funds:
- Crowdfunding project "Constructing a System for Meeting NICU Babies 24/7"
- Crowdfunding project "For the Safe and Comfortable Transport of Patients During the Pandemic -- Securing the Hospital that Offers Last-resort Treatment for COVID-19 Patients"
- Specific Support Fund "Support for Education and Research in the School of Engineering and Graduate School of Engineering"
After the ceremony, a social gathering was held in a pleasant atmosphere from start to finish. President Nishio showed his appreciation directly to the recipients, while the recipients expressed their memories of the university and thoughts on their contributions.
*Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon
The Medal with Dark Blue Ribbon is awarded to individuals who have made exceptionally generous financial contributions for the good of the public. It is conferred when the occasion arises, after the Decoration Bureau of the Cabinet Office has screened the candidates recommended by relevant ministries.
