Facts regarding the violation
The faculty member subject to disciplinary action was arrested for indecent conduct against a staff member on August 4, 2022 and subsequently indicted on August 19, 2022.
The employee admitted to his indecent conduct against the staff member, including unwanted physical contact, on the night of July 15, 2022.
Considering the victim’s emotional trauma and the offender's position as an educator and leading researcher who should have a high sense of morality and legal compliance obligations, his unethical conduct was totally unacceptable. His inappropriate behavior ruins the university’s name and honor, disturbs moral order at university, and violates the university’s rules and regulations.
However, he admitted to his misconduct and expressed his apologies. Taking that into account, the university took disciplinary action against him, dismissal, according to the Article 33, Section 1, Items 4, 5, 6, and 9 and Section 2 of the Work Regulations for National University Corporation Osaka University Limited Term Staff.

This behavior is absolutely unacceptable, especially for an individual involved in education and research who should be held to a high ethical standard. The university has severely punished the offender.
The university will strive to improve awareness of legal compliance and secure strict regulations to prevent the recurrence of this type of behavior.
