Superstar Students! Award Ceremony for the 23rd Presidential Awards for Extracurricular Activities held
The award ceremony for the 23rd Presidential Awards for Extracurricular Activities was held on Friday, July 29, 2022.
Presidential Awards for Extracurricular Activities were established to recognize outstanding extracurricular activities and invigorate and improve student extracurricular activity participation in 2000.
From 18 nominations, including 4 from sports-oriented clubs, 4 from culture-oriented clubs, and 10 from other groups and individuals, the following individuals received the 23rd Presidential Awards for Extracurricular Activities.
Outstanding Achievement Award
OHKAWA Kimika (4th year, School of Human Sciences)
Ms. Ohkawa earned a gold medal in the Word Processing Division at Abilympics Osaka 2021 (preliminary contest) and the 41st National Abilympics. Her gold medals were the first for an OU student at both competitions.
Special Recognition Award
Rowing Club
The club earned 4th place in the Men’s Pair division at the 48th National Meet and 5th place in the Men’s Pair division at the 99th National Tournament.
Osaka University Formula Racing Club
The club earned 2nd place overall scores and the Best Cost & Manufacturing Award in the 19th All Japan Student Formula Races in 2021.
ABE Masatoshi (4th year, Faculty of Medicine)
Mr. Abe’s team placed 7th of 768 teams at SETI* Breakthrough Listen - E.T. Signal Search hosted by the Kaggle, the largest platform for data scientists and machine learning experts.
