Co-Creation Day@EXPOCITY “Let's Connect through SDG Adventure!" draws over 2200 visitors

Osaka University held Osaka University Co-Creation Day@EXPOCITY on Saturday, June 11, 2022. This event was held at LaLaport EXPOCITY (Suita, Osaka), and featured introductions to results of research at OU and its social co-creation projects, experiments, performances, exhibitions, and workshops, drawing over 2200 participants.

Co-Creation Day@EXPOCITY was held in 2018 and 2019 based on a collaborative agreement with Mitsui Fudosan, an urban developer that operates the large-scale complex EXPOCITY. This event was not held during the COVID-19 pandemic; however, this year, it was held for the first time in three years with infection prevention measures in place.

Under the theme of “Let's Connect through SDG Adventure!", the university set up 10 exhibition booths and 3 poster displays in order to introduce its research and activities towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the Hikari Plaza on the 1st floor of LaLaport EXPOCITY.

In addition, various stage performances on SDGs were presented by Osaka University’s think tank Social Solution Initiative (SSI), including:

• Making balloon animals designed to teach the importance of biodiversity and life
• Introduction of home countries and their ethnic music by students from Ghana and Indonesia designed to appeal the importance of connection (in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)).

Through the number of attendees was limited due to infection prevention measures, this event ended on a high note.
