Representative SHIONOYA Ryu (former MEXT Minister) visits Osaka University

SHIONOYA Ryu, member of the House of Representatives and former Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) visited Osaka University with MEXT officials on Monday, April 18, 2022.

Mentioning the university’s activity in education, research, and social contribution and its future endeavors, President Nishio spoke with Mr. Shionoya and MEXT officials about the characteristics of the university’s collaboration with industry, its activities, such as issuing bonds and gathering funds, and the importance of sharing information about these activities with society.

After Director KODAMA Ryosuke outlined the Institute of Laser Engineering and its endeavors, the party discussed the results of the university’s collaboration with industry and sufficient budget allocation to the area of laser engineering, ending the visit with a tour of a large-scale laser facility.
