Welcome to Osaka University! 2022-2023 Spring Entrance Ceremony held

Osaka University held its 2022-2023 Spring Entrance Ceremony under clear blue skies at Osaka-jo Hall on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, with 6,398 individuals (3,444 undergraduate students and 2,954 graduate students) entering the university.

Just like last year, only new students were allowed to attend the ceremony, which was held with measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including body temperature checks, the use of hand sanitizer at the entrance to the venue, and wearing face masks.

At the ceremony, which began at 1:30 pm in a solemn atmosphere, two student representatives, TAKANO Haruka (School of Pharmaceutical Sciences) and SAKIYAMA Ryo (Graduate School of Economics), made oaths of admission. Following this, President Nishio spoke about Tekijuku, a place of learning to which Osaka University traces its spiritual roots, and expressed that the new students should take pride in having inherited its conviction and passion for academics.

Finally, performances welcoming the new students by Osaka University's Symphony Orchestra, Mixed Chorus, Male Chorus, and Cheerleading Party concluded the ceremony on a festive note.
