Former Presidents of Osaka University Join 2021 Clarivate Citation Laureates
On September 22, Clarivate Plc, an information services and analytics company, announced 16 world-class researchers as Citation Laureates. This year’s list includes KISHIMOTO Tadamitsu (Specially Appointed Professor, Immunology Frontier Research Center; former OU President) and HIRANO Toshio (President, National Institutes for Quantum and Radiological Science and Technology; former OU President).
The two were selected to the Physiology or Medicine category “for discovery of Interleukin-6, description of its physiological and pathological actions, that has contributed to drug development."
Each year in September, Clarivate Plc publicizes researchers whose work is deemed to be ‘of Nobel class’ based on publication and citation data analyzed by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI).
Previously, two OU professors were named as citation laureates: Professor AKIRA Shizuo (in 2008) and Professor SAKAGUCHI Shimon (in 2015).
