Investigation report on capture of a genetically modified mouse outside of controlled area

On June 4, 2021, Osaka University announced that a genetically modified mouse was captured outside of its controlled area on April 6, 2021 and later established a committee to investigate the incident.

The results of this committee's investigation can be found in the PDF file linked below.

The university deeply apologizes for the discovery of this genetically modified mouse, which should have been under strict control, outside of its controlled area.

Osaka University takes this situation very seriously and will do its very best to prevent recurrence of this type of incident by strengthening laboratory animal management systems and retraining faculty and staff members who utilize these facilities.
