Welcome to Osaka University! 2021-2022 Spring Entrance Ceremony held

Osaka University held its 2021-2022 Spring Entrance Ceremony at Osaka-jo Hall on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, with 6,316 individuals (3,417 undergraduate students and 2,899 graduate students) entering the university.

This year, only new students were allowed to attend the ceremony, which was held with measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including body temperature checks and the use of hand sanitizer at the entrance to the venue, wearing face masks, and entering the venue in separate groups to avoid crowds.

At the ceremony, which began at 10:50 am in a solemn atmosphere, two student representatives, OHTAKE Mao (School of Dentistry) and UEMOTO Shota (Graduate School of Law and Politics), made oaths of admission. Following this, President Nishio spoke about the significance of spending time at the university, a place brimming with diversity, promising to support students and help them lead fulfilling student lives.

Finally, performances welcoming the new students by Osaka University's Symphony Orchestra, Mixed Chorus, Male Chorus, and Cheerleading Party concluded the ceremony on a festive note.
