Osaka University rises to 5th place in Times Higher Education’s Japan University Rankings 2021

On March 25, Times Higher Education (THE) released its Japan University Rankings 2021, created via a partnership with the Benesse Group, with Osaka University coming in at 5 th place in the rankings, up from 8 th place in last year’s rankings.

These rankings put particular emphasis on education in their assessments.

Osaka University was highly evaluated in the Engagement metric (interaction with the staff and faculty and collaboration with their peers, teaching environment, and recommendation from high school advisors) and the International Outlook metric (the proportion of international students, the proportion of international staff, and the proportion of Japanese students studying abroad). High scores in these factors have contributed to the university's rise in the rankings.

Osaka University believes that its efforts in communicating with students and developing global talent even in a pandemic-constrained environment were recognized in this assessment.
