COVID-19 vaccinations at Osaka University have concluded

Starting on June 21, 2021, COVID-19 vaccinations were administered at Osaka University as workplace vaccinations, with the final vaccinations administered on October 30.

During this period, some 20,000 students, faculty, staff, and other employees at the university received 2 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Additionally, vaccines were administered to some 4,500 education workers from Suita and Minoh cities.

When combined with the priority vaccinations delivered at Osaka University Hospital and Osaka University Dental Hospital earlier in the year, some 64% of undergraduate and graduate students and some 84% of faculty and staff members, totalling 67% of the OU community as a whole, have received COVID-19 vaccinations on campus.

Osaka University conducted COVID-19 vaccinations in order to accelerate vaccination rates in the country. The university believes that these vaccinations also helped ease the concerns of university members. For Osaka University, which employs the motto “Live Locally, Grow Globally,” it is a great pleasure that it was able to contribute to local communities, even if only a little.

Over the course of 4 months, some 1,600 healthcare workers and 2,200 clerical workers were involved in this huge undertaking. The university would like to thank all of those who assisted in these workplace vaccinations.

The university will continue its activities while taking measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

*Individuals who wish to receive a COVID-19 vaccination in the future should check the webpage of their local municipality or the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare’s COVID-19 Vaccine Navi.
