Apology regarding mishandling of personal information on OU study support system

Recently, setup errors were found in the study support system for OU students: current OU students who logged in to the system were able to access the names of current students and a portion of alumni (both in Japanese and alphabet notation) and send emails to other current students.

Note: These settings have since been corrected.

Under the previous settings, only the email address of the sender, not the email address(es) of the recipient(s), was displayed even when a student had sent an email. The email address(es) are given to current students and are only valid while they are attending the university.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this mistake.

Moving forward, Osaka University will make every effort to prevent such incidents from occurring and facilitate the smooth operation of the system.
