1. Student who tested positive for COVID-19

The student is a female in her 20s.

2. Details of the affected student's activity

Wednesday, April 1 – Student returns to Japan from a study abroad trip, tested via PCR test at a quarantine station at Narita International Airport.
Saturday, April 11 – Results from the PCR test come back positive (symptomless).

Following instructions given to her by a health center, the student has remained in the Kanto area at an isolated location; thus, she has not attended the university nor had any contact with anyone associated with the university since returning to Japan.

Osaka University has informed faculty, staff, and students via its official website, bulletin boards, and other media about measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus based on policies from the central government and Osaka Prefecture, as well as the opinions of experts.
