UC/UCEAP Osaka Office 5th Anniversary Party held
On Thursday, December 5, a party commemorating the 5 th anniversary of the establishment of the UC/UCEAP Osaka Office was held at Assembly Hall in Osaka University Hall.
The UC/UCEAP Osaka Office was established on December 3, 2014 in the Interdisciplinary Research Building on the Toyonaka Campus in order to support international students and visiting professors from the University of California so that they can focus on their efforts at Osaka University, while also providing various information to OU students interested in the University of California.
The party,
planned by a student-centered
executive committee, was co-hosted by OU’s Department of International Affairs, the Osaka
University Japanese and United States Student Association, the Osaka University
North American Alumni Association, and Sakuyakai (Osaka University School of Foreign Studies/Osaka University of Foreign
Studies Alumni Association).
Over 100 individuals, including students, faculty, and staff from OU and UC, were in attendance at the party, which began with a greeting from Executive Vice President KAWAHARA Genta.
The greeting was followed by a lecture by UC San Francisco Professor John Ino, an introduction to UC by TAKAHASHI Kayo from the University of California Tokyo Study Center (TSC), and presentations by students who studied at UC as exchange students.
Later, the social gathering held in the same venue served as a great opportunity for individuals from OU and UC to strengthen their relationships and deepen their connections. Moving forward, Osaka University and the University of California aim to further deepen their academic exchange through international symposiums, workshops, and summer schools.
