Memorial Lecture and Gathering held for the Late KUMAGAI Nobuaki (Former President, Osaka University)

On Thursday, May 31, a Memorial Lecture and Gathering was held for the late KUMAGAI Nobuaki, former president of Osaka University, at the Rihga Royal Hotel, with some 300 individuals in attendance from the financial, economic, and industrial realms, as well as university-related individuals.

The Memorial Lecture began with an opening greeting from Professor TANAKA Toshihiro (Dean, Graduate School of Engineering) and a greeting from Osaka University President NISHIO Shojiro, which were followed by a memorial lecture by Professor Emeritus KITAYAMA Ken-ichi.

At the Memorial Gathering, a greeting was given by former Osaka University President and Professor Emeritus KISHIMOTO Tadamitsu, and a greeting and a toast were given by former Osaka University President and Professor Emeritus WASHIDA Kiyokazu. Following this, speeches were held by KOYAMA Ryuji (Director, National University Corporation Support Division, Higher Education Bureau, MEXT) , INOUE Noriyuki (President and CEO/Representative Executive Officer, Global Group, Daikin Industries, Ltd.), and IDO Toshizo (Governor, Hyogo Prefecture) in remembrance of the highly-accomplished and well-respected Dr. Kumagai.
