Center for Global Initiatives Open Lecture held

On Thursday, November 16, the Osaka University Center for Global Initiatives Open Lecture was held at the Convention Center on Osaka University's Suita Campus.

This lecture was held primarily for university faculty, staff, and students as a part of OU's Top Global University Project, with over 50 individuals in attendance both from inside the university and out.

Following a greeting from Executive Vice President KOBAYASHI Tadashi and an introduction of the speaker from Professor ISHIKAWA Mayumi of the Center for Global Initiatives, Professor Simon Marginson (Professor, UCL Insitute of Education/Principal Investigator, The Centre for Global Higher Education, University College London) gave a lecture entitled "How good are Japan’s research universities in global terms, and how much does it matter?"

A number of questions were asked during the Q&A session following the lecture, with students and related individuals from both inside and outside of the university deepening their knowledge on policies of countries and universities overseas regarding enhancement of international competitiveness and globalization, as well as how these countries and universities tackle global issues facing higher education.
