Title of Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow awarded

On May 17, former president Nguyen Ngoc Binh of Vietnam National University Hanoi College of Technology made a courtesy call to President NISHIO Shojiro and was awarded the title of Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow.

Dr. Binh received his doctorate from the Graduate School of Engineering Science, Osaka University. He has poured his energy into the development of education and research in Vietnam, while also serving as link between Japanese and Vietnamese students studying abroad through his role as former chair of the Japan Alumni Vietnam. For these contributions, he received the Foreign Minister's Commendation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in 2014.

The title of Osaka University Global Alumni Fellow is awarded to Osaka University alumni who are active overseas. President Nishio hopes that Dr. Binh will continue his success in Vietnam as well as aid in the promotion and strengthening of research and academic exchange between ASEAN nations and Osaka University.
