150 Individuals in Attendance at Osaka University Leaders Forum in Tokyo

On Tuesday, February 14, the Osaka University Leaders Forum was held at Gakushi-Kaikan in Tokyo with more than 150 individuals in attendance.
This forum is held each year in order for graduates of Osaka University and Osaka University of Foreign Studies currently active on the front lines of their respective fields, as well as current faculty and students of Osaka University, to strengthen relationships with one another. This year, the forum, now in its 5th year, was held in Tokyo for the first time.

The forum began with a greeting from President NISHIO Shojiro in which he talked about recent events at Osaka University. This greeting was followed by an introduction to the university's endeavors in industry-university collaboration by Executive Vice President YOSHIKAWA Hideki.

Later, Prof. YANAGIDA Toshio (Director, Center for Information and Neural Networks/Specially Appointed Professor, Graduate School of Frontier Biosciences) delivered a lecture entitled "Unraveling the Brain and AI through Fluctuations," in which he talked about the latest in research on the working of the human brain and AI lead by fluctuations, all while including a bit of humor and speaking in a manner that was easy to understand.

A toast from SAKAMOTO Hiroko (1981 graduate, School of Letters) kicked off the social event, in which attendees deepened friendships beyond generations and fields, making for an energetic event.

Osaka University plans to hold more events in the future in Osaka, Tokyo, and various other locations to further expand the "OU Family," a network of alumni and other individuals related to Osaka University. We hope to see you there.
