Shanghai Jiao Tong University President Zhang Jie visits Osaka University

On Friday, July 22, 2016, President Zhang Jie of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and other affiliated faculty members visited Osaka University. Osaka University President NISHIO Shojiro had a conversation with President Zhang, leading to the issuance of a joint communiqué in which the heads of both universities agreed to a mutual strengthening of exchange between the two universities. After this conversation, a presentation was held by Executive Vice President YAGI Yasushi entitled "Fusing Data, Research, Industry and Innovation - Industry-University Co-Creation and Data-Driven Science." In the discussion following this presentation, the presidents discussed specific methods of exchange between the two universities, and agreed to hold a symposium on datability, as well as Double Degree Programs and Joint Summer Schools.

President Zhiang also held a lecture on "Transition to an Innovative University," at which over 130 Osaka University faculty members and students were in attendance.
