Osaka University Foundation for the Future to start "Undergraduate Student-Initiative Research Encouragement Project" from April


自主研究ポスターIn order to encourage undergraduate student-initiative research, Osaka University will begin Osaka University Foundation for the Future's "Undergraduate Student-Initiative Research Encouragement Project" from April 2015.

This program supports students who have been involved in independent studies since high school and those who have been inspired since entering the university and have become interested in independent research. Currently, Osaka University is seeking projects to be conducted under this program. Such projects need to match the characteristics and fields of study presented by one of the 11 undergraduate schools at OU.

This program aims to encourage students to change their learning style from being taught to educating themselves and assist them acquire qualities of gaining insight into the true essence of things and become active on a world stage in a wide range of fields.

This program helps undergraduate students who are motivated to conduct independent research by providing:
1. 100,000 yen for conducting their independent research
2. Advice on research from a faculty advisor. Advice can be available from faculty at other schools. So, if it's your first time conducting research, don't worry.
This research encouragement system is run by the 11 undergraduate schools individually.

Each undergraduate school presents its own research theme. You can apply to any school that presents a theme that intrigues you.
