1st Lecture by Osaka University Distinguished Professor held

On Thursday, February 26, the 1st Lecture by Osaka University Distinguished Professor was held at Osaka University Hall.

Osaka University created the official title of "Distinguished Professor" in April 2013 in order to recognize individuals who play leading roles coupled with outstanding achievement. Currently, 13 professors at Osaka University are bestowed the title of "Distinguished Professor ."

Professor Akira HARADA of the Graduate School of Science talked to some 200 people assembled in the auditorium at Osaka University Hall and at satellite venues. Under the title of "Supramolecules: Between Matter and Life," he said, "'Supramolecules' are group of molecules. There are enormous unknown fields between 'matter' and 'life,' which are thought to be different things. We can discover new fields of study by exploring these fields from perspectives of material and biological science." Those in attendance listened earnestly to his talk.

The 2nd Lecture by Osaka University Distinguished Professor will be held on Monday, March 23.
The lecturer will be FUKUZUMI Shun-ichi, Distinguished Professor of the Graduate School of Engineering.
