Osaka University will implement a Total Ban on Smoking in 2017

In order to decrease the incidence of passive smoking among staff and deter minors from smoking, OU has decided to implement a total ban on smoking on its campuses from April 2017.
The harm and health impacts of smoking have become a big problem. Osaka University promotes awareness of the deleterious effects of smoking to students, faculty, and staff. OU also currently provides smokers with support in quitting the habit in conjunction with a reduction in the number of smoking areas since last year. Through these ways, Osaka University aims to achieve a cleaner campus environment where OU members, especially non-smokers, can work and study more comfortably.

OU's Health Care Centers offer a first month of free treatment to smokers who'd like to kick the habit
