Tobitate! [Fly away!] Study Abroad Program

With financial support from some companies, MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) and JASSO (Japan Student Services Organization) started a new public and private Study Abroad Support System on Monday, March 10, 2014. Applications are now being accepted.

Please take advantage of this system to study abroad!

Who is Eligible?

  • Undergraduate and graduate students in regular courses at Osaka University

Quota : 300 (nationwide)

  • Enrollment abroad must take place between August 21, 2014 and March 31, 2015. Students will study overseas between 28 days and a year. (A duration of three months or longer is recommended.)

Financial support
This program is not intended for those who only want to enroll in a language course or an exchange program. Candidates should plan to also participate in activities such as internships, volunteering, and/or field work.

This program has the following advantages.

  1. All financial aid is grant so recipients won't need to repay it.
  2. This program offers more generous support than conventional financial aid programs.
  3. Financial aid can be used for entrance fees, tuition fees, expenses for internships, volunteering, field work, housing, traveling, and food.

Amount of support

  1. Monthly amounts of ¥120,000 ~ ¥200,000 (varies by area)
  2. Allowance for prior and follow-up workshops, for travel expense (¥120,000 ~ ¥200,000) (varies by area)
  3. Tuition fees -- up to ¥300,000
