Symposium
(fondly referred to as "Hanshin Net") was held at the
Congrès Convention Center
, Grand Front OSAKA in the Umekita district of Osaka City.
135 persons attended. In the first half of the symposium,
SATO Kuniaki
, Special Officer
for International Planning, Higher Education Bureau, Ministry of
Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, delivered the keynote speech entitled "
University Internationalization and Personnel
Development in the Age of Globalization
".
He placed emphasis on university globalization as one of the highest priority objectives. Following his speech,
MITSUHASHI Yukari
, Special Mission Professor, Institute of Promoting International Exchange Programs, Kobe University, talked about the efforts of Hanshin Net and the future outlook.
A panel discussion was held in the second half. Vice presidents of the four Hanshin Net universities and persons from business, the Consortium of Universities in Osaka, and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry were on the panel. The discussion became quite heated regarding nurturing internationally-minded graduates and university management systems, with many questions from the audience as well.

Hanshin Net Hanshin Net was established on July 27, 2011 by four universities: Osaka University, Kobe University, Kansai University, Kwansei Gakuin University. The universities jointly promote university globalization. |
