Commemorative Presentation on author SHIBA Ryotaro


On Saturday, June 8, under the joint sponsorship of Osaka University, the Sankei Shimbun, and Kansai 2100 Committee, a commemorative lecture presentation and talk were held at the Sankei Hall Breeze in Kita-ku, Osaka.

The commemorative lectures and a talk celebrated the life and works of the popular author SHIBA Ryotaro and considered the topic of what Japan and the Japanese people should be. MIURA Masashi, literary critic, and KOMATSU Kazuhiko, Director, International Research Center for Japanese Studies delivered lectures and talked on the theme of "Wisdom that spans borders and the spirit of the Japanese people." Between their lectures and the talk there was a video letter presentation by UEDA Masaaki, Professor Emeritus, Kyoto University, in which he talked about his memories of the author.

Osaka University gratefully acknowledges the attendance of some 700 at this commemorative presentation.
