Osaka University Symposium "Creating and Going Beyond"

On Sunday, March 24, an Osaka University Symposium " Creating and Going Beyond " was held  at The Mainichi Newspaper Oval Hall under the sponsorship of The Mainichi Newspapers . About 380 students and citizens participated in this event.
In the first part of the symposium, Professor Oriza HIRATA and Professor Kikuo FUJITA from Osaka University delivered lectures. Following these lectures, NAKAMURA Akikazu, composer and shakuhachi player talked about and played the shakuhachi.
In the second part of the symposium, a round-table talk was held with these three guests and NISHI Yasushi, an announcer of the Mainichi Broadcasting System, Inc., and graduate from the School of Law, Osaka University. They talked about, amid changing values in the ever-intensified globalized world, differing viewpoints on how Japanese culture and education should develop and what type of personnel will be sought in the next generation.
We'd like to express our sincere appreciation to the many who participated in this event.
