Osaka University Leaders Forum

The Office for University-Industry Collaboration and the Osaka University Funds jointly held the first Osaka University Leaders Forum at the Osaka University Hall on Tuesday, February 5 .

This forum was held for the first time in order to inform business owners who graduated from Osaka University and Osaka University of Foreign Studies of the current situation at the university and facilitate exchange among alumni, faculty, staff members, and current students. About 170 persons participated in this 3-part forum.

In the first part of the program, President Hirano and Trustee Baba respectively introduced "The Future of Osaka University" and "Osaka University's University-Industry-Government Collaboration Plans." Following the introduction, President Higuchi of Microsoft Japan Co., Ltd. talked about expectations for Osaka University based on his experience.

In the second part of the program, a panel discussion was held. President Inoue of Nakamura Choukou Co., Ltd ., President Kamimura of I am & Interworks Co., Ltd ., and President Matoba of DNA Chip Research Inc . talked about career development of Osaka University students, OU student spirit, and more.

In the third part, a get-together was held, opening with greetings from Trustee Eguchi. His greetings were followed by a toast by Mr. Inubushi, Adviser to Kobe Steel, Ltd . The get-together was very productive with participants exchanging business cards and deepening their friendships.

Participants shared the goal of Osaka University's becoming one of the world top ten comprehensive research universities by 2031, the 100th anniversary of the university's founding.

Osaka University is going to hold a various future events including additional leaders forums so that Osaka University-related persons can deepen exchange with other alumni.
