Two Osaka University Students win Second Ikushi Prizes from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science

The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) announced  on Tuesday, January 17 that TAKAHARA Mitsuyoshi of Osaka University's Graduate School of Medicine and YAMAMOTO Koji of the Graduate School of Engineering Science have won Second JSPS Ikushi Prizes .

The Ikushi Prize was established on the 20th anniversary of Emperor Akihito's accession to the imperial throne through an imperial donation to support and encourage young researchers who work steadily despite severe economic conditions.

Seventeen students in the second semester of doctor's courses in humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences also received awards. Mr. TAKAHARA was awarded the prize for his work in Biology and Mr. YAMAMOTO in Science and Engineering.


An awards ceremony will be held on Thursday , March 1 at The Japan Academy in Tokyo.
