Announcement of 80th Anniversary Cancellations

-- International Exchange Meeting (on April 30), 80th Anniversary Ceremony, Party of Celebration, and Commemorative Bunraku Performance --

First of all, Osaka University extends its heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by the Great Tohoku Pacific Earthquake.
Osaka University was scheduled to hold the 80th Anniversary Ceremony and other events on Sunday, May 1, 2011, in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of its founding. However, in order to place the highest priority on relief operations and restoration of the earthquake-stricken areas, we have determined that cancellation of the 80th anniversary ceremony and several other events is appropriate at this time.
We deeply apologize for any inconvenience caused by these cancellations to individuals planning to participate in the ceremony or other events and to other related persons.
Regretfully, we also plan to cancel, postpone, or modify portions of some other commemorative events.
Additional information will be forthcoming and posted on Osaka University website. We appreciate your understanding.

• The International Exchange Meeting has been cancelled .

Sunday, May 1, 2011

• The 80th anniversary ceremony , the party of celebration, and the commemorative Bunraku performance have been cancelled .
• The academic lecture presentation in commemoration of SHIBA Ryotaro will be postponed .
• The Osaka University Presidents Summit will be postponed .

Monday, May 2, 2011

• The ceremony and banquet for completion of Osaka University Hall will be conducted with a modified program .

Tuesday and national holiday, May 3, 2011

• Homecoming Day will be postponed .

Thursday and national holiday, May 5, 2011

• The Robot Symposium has been cancelled .
