Osaka University Won the 49th Seven Universities Meet

The closing ceremony of the 49th Seven Universities Meet took place on September 25. Although the meet was hosted by Nagoya University, this year Osaka University walked away with the over-all championship

This year the Meet consisted of 41 scheduled events between July and September with two of them were rained out. Osaka University won 8 of the events, including the championships in men's and women's track and field for the second straight year and the 5th straight win in car events. In other events, students practice paid off. As a result, Osaka University achieved 210 points to win with a 11 point-lead over the runner-up, Nagoya University.

Osaka University was the over-all champion for the 6th time. The last time Osaka University won the championship was 4 years ago in 2006 when it hosted the 45th Seven Universities Meet.

Nonetheless, the victory this time was unusually sweet and special because although Osaka University has won the championship 5 times before, this was Osaka University's first time to win the championship as a participant and not the sponsor!
