Top Global University Project

Since its selection in 2014 for the Top Global University Project, Osaka University has implemented various initiatives based on three pillars: education reform, globalization, and diversity.

Education Reform

A four-term system under a new academic calendar was introduced in the 2017 academic year, replacing the conventional two-semester system. In addition, AO and recommendation examinations are now conducted in all undergraduate schools to attract diverse and multitalented students by holistically evaluating their learning up to high school, in addition to the academic achievement test. We are also working to enhance the multilingual language skills of our students.

Globalization

Osaka University is actively promoting international joint research as well as student and researcher exchange. To advance these efforts, we have leveraged our Overseas Centers and consortiums with overseas universities, and have been building strategic partnerships with leading universities as Global Knowledge Partners. Furthermore, in the ASEAN region, Osaka University has established the Osaka University ASEAN Campuses based on its long history of collaboration with local universities and is conducting educational and research activities in cooperation with stakeholders at these campuses.

Diversity

New value is created and discovered through friendly competition among diverse individuals who gather at the university. In this sense, it is essential to realize diversity on campus. We will further promote student and researcher exchange with overseas universities, and create an environment where diverse talent from the world can gather and play an active role, transcending differences in gender, nationality, ethnicity, cultural background, and age.
