[Brunei] Participation in the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University Graduation Ceremony
On August 17, 2026, Kiyoshi FUJITA (Director of the ASEAN Center for Academic Initiatives) and KANJAMAPORNKUL Sathida (Specially Appointed Assistant Professor) of the Institute for International Initiatives attended the graduation ceremony of the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA), an ASEAN Campus member institution, as representatives of UOsaka. His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muʼizzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ʻAli Saifuddien Saʼadul Khairi Waddien Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah attended the ceremony, where degrees were conferred on 443 graduates.
Following the ceremony, Director FUJITA and Specially Appointed Assistant Professor KANJAMAPORNKUL met with Rector Awang Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani, university officials, and Hajah Normah Suria Hayati (Overseas Visiting Professor) of UNISSA, among others, and exchanged views.

[Common] University Explanatory Session & Career Counselling Session Held for OUICP Students
On July 30, 2026, eight students took part in a university explanatory session and career conselling session held for students who are currently in Japan under the Osaka University International Certificate Program (OUICP).
At the information session, faculty members from the Institute for International Initiatives introduced graduate degree programs and explained how students can prepare for graduate school admission. In addition, during the student panel and Q&A session with faculty members, participants engaged in lively discussions on topics such as scholarships, job hunting in Japan, career paths after earning a doctoral degree, and opportunities for research collaboration.

[Common] Post-arrival Orientation for OUICP-S Students
On June 29, 2026, a post-arrival orientation was held for AY2026 OUICP-S students. A total of 14 students participating in the approximately two-month "Practical Study Abroad" program gathered for their initial meeting. Program faculty and staff provided an orientation on campus life, making it the first day of their study experience at the University of Osaka.

[Thailand] Visit from Mahidol University International College (MUIC)
From June 1 to 4, 2026, three staff members from Mahidol University International College (MUIC), an ASEAN Campus member institution, visited the University of Osaka. The visit was part of a staff training program at the MUIC, with the aim of gathering information on academic and educational exchange at UOsaka through tours to relevant departments and meetings with faculty and staff. During their stay at UOsaka, they visited the Institute for International Initiatives, the Graduate School of Science, the Museum of Osaka University, the Center for Japanese Language and Culture, and the International Center for Biotechnology to observe educational activities and gather information. In addition, they held meetings with faculty and staff from the respective departments and exchanged views on collaborative activities between Mahidol University and UOsaka.

[Common] Post-arrival Orientation for OUICP-S Students
On May 1, 2026, a post-arrival orientation was held for OUICP-S students. A total of 12 students participating in the "Global Frontiers in Japan" and "Frontier Engineering" programs began their studies at the University of Osaka. Staff from the Department of International Affairs explained the procedures for starting their study abroad program, while faculty members from the Institute for International Initiatives and senior students currently studying under the OUICP program shared information about campus life. Following the orientation, the group visited the Information Room for International Students (IRIS) at the Center for International Education and Exchange, where they learned about student exchange activities at the university.

[Thailand] Visit to Mahidol University
On April 23, 2026, Mikako HAYASHI (Executive Vice President of the University of Osaka), Kiyoshi FUJITA (Director of the ASEAN Center for Academic Initiatives), and Sathida Kanjamapornkul (Specially Appointed Assistant Professor), visited Mahidol University, an ASEAN campus member institution. During a meeting held at the university's Salaya Campus with Vice President Nopraenue Sajjarax Dhirathiti and international collaboration staff, the two sides exchanged views on educational and research exchanges through double degree programs and joint symposiums between the two universities.

[Brunei] Visit to the ASEAN Campus Office
On April 22, Kiyoshi FUJITA (Director of the ASEAN Center for Academic Initiatives), SUMIMURA Yoshinori (Chief of the Campus Innovation Unit), and KANJAMAPORNKUL Sathida (Specially Appointed Assistant Professor) of the Institute for International Initiatives visited UOsaka's ASEAN campus office and held a discussion with Hajah Normah Suria Hayati (Overseas Visiting Professor). Discussions were held on future strategies for collaboration with universities in Brunei as part of the ASEAN Campus Initiative.

[Brunei] Visit to Universiti Teknologi Brunei
On April 22, 2026, Kiyoshi FUJITA (Director of the ASEAN Center for Academic Initiatives), SUMIMURA Yoshinori (Chief of the Campus Innovation Unit), and KANJAMAPORNKUL Sathida (Specially Appointed Assistant Professor) of the Institute for International Initiatives visited Universiti Teknologi Brunei, an ASEAN Campus member institution.
A meeting was held with the university's executive leadership, including Vice Chancellor Datin Prof. Dr. Hajah Zorah Sulaiman during which information was exchanged on the research facilities and industry-academia collaboration activities of both universities, and discussions were held on opportunities for research collaboration and student exchange. In addition, a visit was made to a food-related research laboratory at the university, providing an opportunity to gather information on research activities in the field of applied sciences.

[Brunei] Visit to Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University
On April 21, 2026, Kiyoshi FUJITA (Director of the ASEAN Center for Academic Initiatives), SUMIMURA Yoshinori (Chief of the Campus Innovation Unit), and KANJAMAPORNKUL Sathida (Specially Appointed Assistant Professor) of the Institute for International Initiatives visited Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, an ASEAN Campus member institution.
During a meeting with the university's executive leadership, including Dato Rector Dr Haji Norarfan, information was exchanged on the current status of student and research exchanges between the two universities.
This was followed by a visit to a joint laboratory in Sinaut Campus, where discussions were held with relevant departments, including the Faculty of Halal Science and Sustainable Tourism. The discussions covered joint research, new exchange initiatives, and student exchange opportunities through the OUICP.

[Brunei] Visit to Universiti Brunei Darussalam
From April 20 to 21, 2026, Kiyoshi FUJITA (Director of the ASEAN Center for Academic Initiatives), SUMIMURA Yoshinori (Chief of the Campus Innovation Unit), and KANJAMAPORNKUL Sathida (Specially Appointed Assistant Professor) of the Institute for International Initiatives visited Universiti Brunei Darussalam, an ASEAN Campus member institution.
On April 20, a meeting was held with the university's executive leadership, including Vice Chancellor Dr. Hazri bin Haji Kifle, during which views were exchanged on strengthening collaboration with UOsaka in the ASEAN region and promoting research and student exchanges. In addition, they visited the university's international affairs office and discussed the current status and future development of OUICP and short-term student exchange programs.
The following day, they visited the Language Centre and Faculty of Science to discuss the potential for collaboration in language education and double degree programs.

2026年度の活動

[Common] University Explanatory Session & Career Counselling Session Held for OUICP Students
On April 16, 2026, “Introduction to The University of Osaka for OUICP Students: Thinking about future career in the ASEAN Campus network” was held for students who are currently in Japan under the Osaka University International Certificate Program (OUICP).
This event was designed to provide students with an opportunity to consider their future careers by introducing graduate programs at the University of Osaka, sharing testimonials from current students, and offering consultations from faculty members. Eleven students participated on the day of the event, and they actively exchanged opinions and information in groups.

[Thailand] Participation in MU Study Abroad & Career Fair 2026
On April 8, 2026, KANJAMAPORNKUL Sathida (Specially Appointed Assistant Professor of the Institute for International Initiatives) took part in MU Study Abroad & Career Fair 2026 held at Mahidol University, an ASEAN Campus member institution. Approximately 50 undergraduate and graduate students from Mahidol University visited our booth, where consultations were held on research opportunities, the admissions process, and study abroad programs at UOsaka.
