On Thursday, October 1, Osaka University held the 4th Joint Symposium online with Higher Educational Institutions of Brunei Darussalam: Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Univeristi Islam Sulan Sharif Ali (UNISSA), and Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB). Over 150 individuals participated in the Joint Symposium, including Dr. Haji Azman (Permanent Secretary of Higher Education) and university vice presidents from Brunei, and Executive Vice President KAWAHARA Genta and ASEAN Center for Academic Initiatives Regional Director HISADA Hitoshi from OU.

On Wednesday, December 2, an online workshop was held between the Department of Applied Chemistry of Osaka University's Graduate School of Engineering and the Institute of Chemistry of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. Some 80 individuals from the Graduate School of Engineering and the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, among others. The two organizations reached a basic agreement to conclude a letter of agreement for an ASEAN Campus Double Degree Program in this academic year, with further student exchange anticipated in the future.

On December 18, 2020, the International Center for Biotechnology of Osaka University and the Faculty of Science at Mahidol University jointly held a mini online symposium entitled “Thailand-Japan Mini Symposium Colloquium #2: Diverse Biotechnologies Based on Marine and Terrestrial Organisms.”
